About the client

Our client is a global trading company headquartered in London. Since its inception in 2015, it has experienced remarkable growth, becoming a leader in its field. This company has since opened several new offices around the world. Locations include New York, Paris, Singapore, and Mumbai. It needed to equip each new site with specialised desks for traders and support staff.

The client selected Technology Desking to design, manufacture and install its furniture. We have supplied over 350 desks to its sites globally.

Challenges:

The nature of a trader's work means the desks had to withstand long hours of use and integrate customised IT equipment.

  • The traders' desks needed to support multiple PCs with large monitors in a tiered arrangement. Because of this, they need a special monitor mounting system to support extra screens.

  • Enhanced cable management and ventilation systems were also needed.

  • Traders use a lot of tech, so the client needed extra power and data outlets on each desk.

  • Designing ergonomic trading desks that enhanced trader focus and comfort was essential.

  • The client needed desks for workers with differing roles and needs, from admin staff to full traders.

  • Furniture had to be installed at sites across the world.

  • The client wanted customised furniture featuring their logo and colour scheme.

Solutions:


The desks we installed were made in the UK with high-quality, durable materials. The high specifications meant that the desks could withstand long hours of use.

  • We designed desks with dynamic PC housing. The PC enclosures move up and down with the height-adjustable desktop. This function allows for easier access, saving time if a technician needs to fix the PC. It also removes the need for bespoke cable lengths. The trader desks can hold up to 2 PCs per user.

  • We fitted all the desks with Smartarm monitor arms. These are ideal for supporting multiple monitors. They feature quick and easy monitor removal, fine height adjustment, and flexibility. We designed Smartarm to meet changing monitor specifications and configurations. Users can have their screens in either landscape or portrait orientation. They can also add extensions with no disruption to existing monitors.

  • Trading desks require a lot of equipment. The desks we designed for the client incorporated plenty of cable management features. These included sliding desktops giving access to an upper cable tray. Cable chains discreetly feed the cables into the PC trolley.

  • We installed our technology links desktop units. These have power sockets and a variety of different ports. They have plenty of USB ports along with LAN and microphone sockets. The Technology Links units we installed were bespoke. We customised them for the client's data and power needs.

  • All the desks we supplied were height adjustable, so traders could choose to stand for part of the working day. Standing desks have many ergonomic benefits. They help users maintain alertness in a high pressure trading environment.

  • We installed our DT11 desks. These have scalable frames, allowing clients to adapt the desks to their changing needs. They can be adjusted from an admin to a trader desk and back again if needed. This flexibility saves on buying new furniture as the business evolves and changes.

  • All the desks and equipment were shipped from our UK warehouse to the client’s international bases. We were also able to send staff to oversee the installations.

  • We designed bespoke desks in the corporate colour scheme. They had matching glass end panels with the company logo.
